This page is the central transparency and trust page of InCelligence. It complements the home page, which presents the range of courses, information, and consulting services, and documents who is behind InCelligence, who creates technical content or contributes to courses, and the scientific and practical experience on which these contributions are based. Practical Continuing Education for Laboratories and Industry

Our course and continuing education program is aimed at employees in research, development, manufacturing, quality control, and quality assurance as well as professionals from biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.

We offer two different training formats:

  • In-house courses: We conduct the training directly at your site and can adapt content and practical exercises to your operational requirements.
  • Open courses: You participate in our regularly offered training courses and benefit from professional exchange with participants from different laboratory and business areas.

 

Independent Technical Information

In addition to our course program, InCelligence provides practice-oriented information on cell culture, molecular biology, GMP, and related life science topics. This includes, among other things, content on ATMPs and tissue preparations, selected technical literature as well as an extensive collection of useful Links and Information Sources.

Our goal is to present scientific and regulatory relationships in an understandable way and to provide information that can be used practically in everyday laboratory work, quality assurance, and the development of biological products.

 

Consulting and Project-Related Support

In addition to our training courses, InCelligence offers technical consulting and project-related services . We support laboratories and companies, among other things, in the creation and optimization of SOPs and QM documents, the establishment of GMP-compliant processes for tissue preparations and ATMPs, and the development, standardization, and troubleshooting of cell-based bioassays. In addition, we advise manufacturers on the development and practical evaluation of cell culture equipment, consumables, reagents, and assay products.

InCelligence is intended to grow continuously and address new technical topics. Suggestions from research, laboratory practice, and industry help us further develop existing content and create new information resources.

InCelligence was founded in 2012 by Dr. Nicole Kühl . From the beginning, the platform has been supported by an interdisciplinary network of cell and molecular biologists, chemists, biological and medical technical assistants, and other professionals from laboratory practice, research, industry, and quality management.

Dr. rer. nat. Nicole Kühl

Cell Culture, Bioassays, and GMP – Scientifically Sound and Practical

Dr. Nicole Kühl is a cell and molecular biologist as well as the founder and head of InCelligence. Since 2012, she has supported pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, research institutions, cell culture laboratories, and manufacturers of laboratory equipment and consumables through specialized training and individual consulting projects.

Her work focuses on the reliable and reproducible application of cell biological methods. She not only teaches theoretical principles, but also analyzes specific laboratory workflows together with participants and project partners, identifies sources of error, and develops practical solutions. Scientific requirements, regulatory requirements, and actual laboratory conditions are consistently linked together.

Scientific Experience with Primary Cells and Complex Cell Systems

Nicole Kühl studied biology at Technische Universität Karlsruhe and Universität Bremen, focusing on neurobiology and molecular cell biology. In her doctoral dissertation, completed magna cum laude , she investigated the influence of heat stress on cell proliferation and cell cycle control.

As a postdoctoral researcher at Universitätsklinikum Groningen, she specialized in therapy-oriented multiple sclerosis research. She worked in particular with primary oligodendrocytes, astrocytes, and microglial cells and investigated the importance of growth factors and their binding proteins for the survival and differentiation of these cells.

At Jacobs University Bremen, she continued this work as a scientist and research group leader and taught biochemistry and cell biology. Her practical experience includes primary human and animal cells, mesenchymal stromal cells, established adherent and suspension cell lines, cell viability and proliferation assays, apoptosis and cell cycle analyses, flow cytometry, microscopy, as well as molecular biological and protein biochemical methods.

This many years of experimental work continue to form the basis of her training and consulting: methods are not considered in isolation, but always in the context of cell biology, reproducibility, process control, and the significance of the results.

Training That Works in the Laboratory

From 2008 to 2011, Nicole Kühl headed the PromoCell Academy. There, she developed and organized theoretical and practical cell culture courses for scientific and technical staff.

With InCelligence, she has continued this work independently since 2012. Her training experience includes more than 100 in-house training courses and numerous open technical courses for employees in research and development, pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality control, diagnostics, technical support, and sales.

Her main training areas include:

  • Development, optimization, and validation of cell-based bioassays
  • Cell viability, proliferation, and cytotoxicity assays
  • Documentation and preparation of cell culture-specific SOPs

In-house training courses are adapted to the respective cell types, methods, processes, and qualification objectives of the company. Practical exercises can take place directly in the client’s laboratories. This allows results and suggestions for improvement to be transferred directly to existing workflows.

GMP, ATMPs, and Quality Assurance

In addition to her work as a trainer, Nicole Kühl has worked in pharmaceutical quality assurance for many years. Since 2016, she has supported the ANOVA Institute for Regenerative Medicine in a senior external QA role.

There, she led the quality and regulatory preparation of a manufacturing authorization under § 13 AMG as well as authorizations under §§ 20b and 20c AMG. The authorizations established the manufacturing basis for Bone Marrow Concentrate and a secretome product derived from mesenchymal stromal cells. One of the projects led to an authorized first-in-human application in 2018.

This practical responsibility feeds directly into her GMP and ATMP training courses. Regulatory requirements are not merely reproduced, but explained using real manufacturing, quality, and validation issues. These include translating regulatory requirements into cell culture processes, preparing appropriate SOPs, risk analyses, method validation, contamination control, and ensuring consistent cell and product quality.

In addition, Nicole Kühl supports companies in the standardization of bioassays, the development of release tests, and product development projects for cell culture equipment and consumables.

Participation in Standardization

At the request of Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN), Dr. Kühl was a member of the “Incubators for Tissue Engineering” working group in 2011 and 2012. In this role, she contributed her scientific and practical expertise in cell culture and the cultivation of sensitive primary cells to the standardization work and gave a technical presentation on GMP requirements in the DIN working group.
